Sir Clive Rose (B3 1945-48) died on 17th April 2019, aged 97, after an extraordinary distinguished and eventful life. He will be missed by his many friends and is survived by his 5 children, 14 grandchildren and 14 great ­grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 2pm, on 17th May, at St Peter and St Paul's Church, Lavenham, Suffolk with tea at the Swann Inn afterwards. antonia.preston@yahoo.co.uk

Timothy Whitworth (C2 1946-50) died on 17th April 2019. His funeral will takes place at 1pm on the 9th May at St John the Evangelist Church, Hills Road, Cambridge, CB2 8RN. Peter Brown (B1 1949-53)

Peter Brown (B1 1949-53) has died aged 83. Peter was a member of Burnham & Berrow and Royal North Devon Golf Clubs and represented the OM Golf Society with distinction in eight Halford Hewitts, including playing in the winning team of 1972. He went on to play in six Bernard Darwins and two Senior Darwins. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

Peter's funeral will take place at 11:00 at Barnstaple Crematorium on Friday 12th April 2019.

Hugh Blenkin (B3 1954-58)

Hugh Blenkin (B3 1954-58) died on 13th February after a lengthy battle with cancer. Hugh was a past Captain and great supporter of the OMGS and friend to the school. Hugh will be remembered fondly by all those who spent many happy times with him on and off the golf course. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

A Thanksgiving Service for Hugh's life will be held at 2.30pm on Tuesday, 9th April at St Mary the Virgin in Ashford, Kent.

Anthony Churchill (C1 1948-53) passed away peacefully at his home in Ventnor on the morning of 9th January.  The funeral will take place on Friday 8th February 2019 at 12 Noon at Holy Trinity Church, Queens Road, Cowes and afterwards at the Royal London Yacht Club.

A Memorial Service will be held this Sunday 17th September at 11.30am, a celebration of the life and in loving memory of Hamish John Cameron Howitt (LI 2009-14).

The service will be held at Westbourne House Prep School, Chichester, PO20 2BH.

There will be a photo board at the service for you to add any photos you may have of times with Hamish, and a book to record 'I remember when' moments. We will be very grateful for any contributions.

There is no formal dress code. Hamish would want you to dress as you please.

No flowers please. It is our intention, in the near future, to set up a foundation in Hamish's name, which will be used to support charities that are relevant to his life.

Laurence Ellis - Memorial Service

The Marlburian Club heard today that Laurence Ellis (L.E.E. to many) died on Monday 7th August 2017 at the age of 85.

He was a member of Common Room from 1955-1977, and Housemaster of C1 from 1968-1977. He left to become the Rector of The Edinburgh Academy. Amongst other things, he taught Mathematics, ran the Beagles, was involved with CCF, the Chapel and many sports as well as writing the timetable for many years.

His elder son, Jonathan, was in C3 from 1975-1980 and his younger son, Simon, was a member of CR from 1993-2017.

He is also survived by his wife Elizabeth, whom he met when she arrived at the College to work in the Sani, and his daughter, Mary.

There will be a private Cremation Service but the family would like to invite anyone who knew Laurence to a Memorial Service in the College Chapel on Friday 22nd September at 2.00pm and to tea in the Norwood Hall afterwards.

The Memorial Service will take place at 2pm on Saturday 16th April at St Lawrence Church Hall, Church Street, Alton, GU34 2BW and afterwards at Bonhams Barn, Holybourne, GU34 4JA.

There is a train station in Alton with a taxi rank. The church is a ten-minute walk from the station and Bonhams Barn is 2.3 miles from the church. Please make it known in the church if you would like a lift to Bonhams.

Dearly loved husband of Jacqueline, loving father of Alain and Dominique, devoted brother of Birlie Kitto (deceased) and Eleanor Longmire, daughter-in-law and son-in-law Sue and Robert, grandchildren Emma, Alexandre, Jonathan and Vanessa. Funeral will take place on 15th January 2015 at Putney Vale Crematorium (West Chapel) at 2 pm.

Update (August 6th)- the memorial service will now be held at Blandford Church. The time of the service is unchanged at 3.00pm on August 23rd.

Blandford Church is very easy to find as it is in the centre of Blandford. If you are unfamiliar with Blandford, you may find it easiest if necessary to go round the town's by-pass so that you approach the town using the A350 from the Poole direction. You will find there is good parking available just after you have crossed the river bridge into the town, so there is no need to enter the town's one way system.

A Memorial Service for the life of Imogen Craddock (PR 1971-73) will be held at 3pm on Friday 23rd August at All Saints Church, Langton Long, Blandford. This will be followed by afternoon tea at the Crown Hotel, Blandford.

Allegria Gunner, wife of former Marlborough Chaplain, Laurence Gunner (CR 1986-96) passed away on 21st December 2012. A Requiem will be offered for Alegría in St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle at 8 am on Thursday 24th January and a Memorial Evensong in thanksgiving for her life will be sung at 5.15 pm that same day, also in St George’s Chapel.  Friends and relatives wishing to attend Evensong are asked to note that no parking is available in the Castle, but that there are public car parks nearby. A Thanksgiving Service for Robert Avery, who died on 17 April 2012, took place on Wednesday 5th September at Sts Peter & Paul Church, Worminghall, Bucks. There was a good representation of former members of Common Room and Old Marlburians, who filled the lovely country church and tributes were made by Patrick Keef (B1 1980-85) and Martin Evans, the Club Secretary, on behalf of Andrew Reid (C2 1972-76).

The Monson family invite Old Marlburians to a memorial service for Alexander, known to his friends as Monty, on 19th September at 12:00pm at St Mary Abbots Church, Kensington. The collection will be for the Alexandar Monson Fund.

The funeral service will be on Thursday 9th August at 11.00 am in the Wesley Memorial Church, New Hall Street, Oxford. Those attending are recommended to use the Park & Ride service if coming by car. It is likely that there will be a Memorial Service at Leighton Park School, where Bill went on to be Headmaster until 1981. This would be at a considerably later date but if you are interested in attending please contact the Club Office marlburianclub@marlboroughcollege.org

Canon J C P (Peter) Barton (C1 1942-46) Memorial service will be held at 11.30am on Saturday 15th September, at Malmesbury Abbey in Wiltshire, where he was vicar for nearly 20 years. Peter Barton was a distingwished Preacher and a Governor of Marlborough College for many years.
