Fifteen leading Music Scholars drawn from all year groups have been selected for the tour, and will be based at the attractive Shawnee Golf & Country Club, home to the Kirkwood family. There they will undergo rigorous tuition and preparation from Music Department staff in readiness for two concerts, the first at the Shawnee Playhouse on 22 October, and the second at the exquisite setting of the Kosciuszko Foundation in New York.
The New York concert will take place on 24 October 2013, and will comprise of a concert and reception for OMs, VIPs and other invited guests. The Kosciuszko Foundation is a renowned venue on the professional classical music circuit and will provide the perfect setting for such an occasion. The programme will include an eclectic mix of repertoire by Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Puccini, Shostakovich and Poulenc, reflecting the outstanding level of specialist music making at the heart of the Marlborough College Music Department.
